The Overlook has been furnished to a high standard and benefits from ample off road parking.

It is situated only a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Ventnor, a Victorian seaside town with buildings full of character. In addition to the main shopping street where you will find a selection of small supermarkets to include a Co-op and Tesco Express, there are parks and gardens, museums and the Winter Gardens - an entertainment venue with a growing reputation for theatre, concerts, comedy and dance shows and of course the restaurant/bar.

There are a number of great restaurants in Ventnor including Cantina, The Ale & Oyster, and the Smoking Lobster to name a few. The famous Spyglass pub sits right on the sea, and there are some great tea and coffee shops and Lady Scarlett’s Tea Parlour (complete with 1940’s theming) are favourites. Or if you fancy a take-away to enjoy by the beach, the Ventnor Haven Fishery on The Esplanade sell fantastic fish & chips, locally caught and prepared to order.

Ventnor Botanic Garden lies in the remarkable microclimate at the heart of the famous 'Undercliff.' This unique garden is protected from the cold northerly winds by chalk downs. In addition to enjoying the lovely gardens, it also hosts events and exhibitions and there is a restaurant and Café on-site for refreshments; lunch or coffee and cake!

From The Esplanade you can take the level walk, along the sea wall to Bonchurch, or walk along the cliff path towards Steephill Cove, a beautiful sheltered bay only accessed by foot.

Ventnor Town

Ventnor on the South coast of the Isle of Wight is a picturesque seaside resort, and one of Britain's most famous Victorian health resorts due to its unique micro-climate.

The town lies beneath St Boniface Down (the highest point on the Isle of Wight) and for the most part is built on the side of a steep hill leading down to the seafront and beach.

The beach huts that line the back of the beach are converted Victorian “bathing machines” and are available to hire, along with deckchairs and private areas.

Ventnor has plenty of things to do both in the town and nearby.

Ventnor Beach is a great suntrap, and the sand and shingle beach is great for sunbathing and family swimming.

Ventnor Marina and the bandstand development are very prominent on the seafront and offer a great viewing platform to look out to sea, and the Ventnor Haven Fishery sells the best in local crab and lobster.

Opposite the marina the spectacular Cascade Gardens run down the side of the cliff where the main road zig-zags its way back up into the main town.

Further along there is a children’s paddling pool which features a giant map of the Isle of Wight, and from here there are great walks to Wheelers Bay and Bonchurch along the Sea Wall.

A short distance from the seafront at the Western side of the town you can stroll through the beautiful Victorian Ventnor Park. This leads onto the famous Ventnor Botanic Gardens at the Undercliff, where the town’s micro-climate can be truly appreciated in a 22 acre sub-tropical paradise, see if you can spot the indigenous wall lizards here.

A short walk from here and you will discover one of the Isle of Wight’s best kept secrets, Steephill Cove, which is one of the most relaxing beaches on the Island.

Along Ventnor esplanade there are several pubs, cafes and restaurants offering a variety of food and refreshments, with a number of alternative places to eat further into town.

With the local fisheries there are some great fish and seafood options available at many of the eateries, and some of the local hotels are highly recommended for their fine dining experiences.

In recent years Ventnor has become the regular host of several big arts and culture events, with the Isle of Arts Festival and Ventnor Fringe.

It is also one of the Isle of Wight’s main carnival towns, with daytime and illuminated processions usually taking place during the summer months.

A short drive along the coast is one of the Isle of Wight’s best known attractions, Blackgang Chine, and regular events are hosted here to entertain all the family.

You can enjoy the spectacular scenery from the top deck of one of the regular buses that serves the town.

Catch a bus eastwards to Shanklin, Sandown & Ryde, or travel northwards to Godshill, Newport or Cowes.

We had a great time at the Overlook, the accommodation was great and benefitted with wonderful view accross the bay, would recommend to anyone.

Had a lovely holiday, loved buffy the cat. Nice verandas and great living room. Enjoyed waching ships through binoculars.
Don't really want to go home !

We loved the beach and surfing the waves ! We enjoyed seeing the needles and going to the Isle o fWight Pearl. Had a nice meal
at the Spyglass Inn and enjoyed listening to the singer at The Millbay Inn. We went to Cowes and the beach in Shanklin. We
walked down the pier in Yarmouth and had lunch in a pub.

We will miss the view and the lovely landscape !

Thank you for a lovely holiday in Ventnor, Isle of Wight !!!

Great house, great location, great weather, a perfect holiday.

Very much enjoyed our stay. The house and views are spectacular very good food at The Taverners in Godshill and a really good chinese takeaway from China House.

Thank you !

We have had an enjoyable week here, we have loved the views, and have been entertained by the seagull's
nest on the roof opposite, 2 chicks hatched 3 days ago.

We have particularly enjoyed the steam train, various cafes for tea and cake the best being Lady Scarletts's Tea Parlour
(The Esplanade, Ventnor) which also happens to do the best crab sandwiches ever. The best fish pie ever was at The Boathouse
pub at Seaview. We also had a very good Chinese takeaway delivered from New China House.

Stunning house and wonderful views superbly appointed accommodation. Great Island, need to return to explore more !

Thank you

We have had a fabulous stay at The Overlook, The house is stunning in a great location (walking down far easier than up !)
The views from the terrace and lovely big windows are just gorgeous.
The house is so well appointed and has everything and more than you could possibly need, great having a washing machine, non to do when i get home !
We ate in the Bistro lovely little restaurant, good food but service hit and miss for prices charged. Spyglass Inn - great sunny spot for easy lunch, beware huge portions !
New Chine - looks awful from outside but food was good. We also bought fresh fish from The Haven on the seafront and cooked here, the fish was amazing so fresh.

We had a boat trip with Ocean Charters - great company, lovely couple took us out, worth doing.

Beach huts/cabins on the beach £15.20 worth having to keep your belongings in and for changing.

The Overlook was a lovely place to stay - more than we expected, towels, bedding, furniture lovely quality. Isabelle loved the "dinosaur" egg bath !!
Loved the fire pit and toasting marshmellows. The garlic festival was a lovely day out, two visits to Robin Hill one wet and one sunny, Shanklin
was lovely afternoon tea in a fairy garden. Altogether a great holiday, but too short !! Grandma & Gramps loved being with the family very much. We love the Isle of Wight
after our first visit !!

Had a lovely stay here at The Overlook. House is full of great amenities and fun gadgets to get our heads around !
Beautiful views and a well decorated place to stay.

Thank you very much.

Thanks for a great week ! We have had really good, hot weather ... So the outdoor space has been well used !
The views are amazing, house is really modern and clean we had everything we needed (dishwasher is great !) and
it's in a great location for exploring the Island. The hills up from the town are killers !
Would be great to have bath mats in the bathrooms and also a shelf in the showers. We have all loved our stay here.... Thank you !

Super ! combined with the lovely weather it was a wonderfully restful week.
We especially enjoyed watching the ships at sea - Queens Mary and Elizabeth.

Thank you for an amazing week in your exceptionally well appointed house. The outside space is amazing coupled with the excelent weather we had.
Ventnor was lovely and we walked miles both to the East and West.

We all have enjoyed our stay here at this stunning house. The view is amazing, the house looks so new and modern and we all took turns using the binoculars at night to star gaze.

The beach is only a 2-5 minute walk down the hill. We spent most of our time there in the sea which, surprisingly wasn't too cold ! while we were there we hired a beach hut and cabin - these came with
deck chairs a windbreak and your own part of the beach ! The cabins were a little bigger and nicer than the beach huts but either way there both a great idea.

We have been to quite a few resturants here but our 2 favouites are Tramezzini and New China.

Overall we've all had a wonderful time here on the Isle of Wight and hope to be returning soon.

Enjoyed the house emensely. We had great weather so the balcony and terrace were great. The views are fabulous to wake up to.

The China Chinese Resturant was very goodin terms of food quality even if a bit quiet inside.

Enjoyed the Spyglass Inn.

Thank you

Amazing house, stunning views, wonderful Island !

Thank you !!

This house is amazing ! It's got everything you need. The balconies are great and so are the views! It's also good for star gazing !

Thanks !

Stunning house, didn't want to leave! Wonderful sea views. Highlights included watching planned launch of Bembridge RNLI Lifeboat; fossil hunting walk via Island gems
(at Brook Beach); Tea & cake at "Time for Tea" Ventnor High Street & a browse around the gallery of very talented photographer, Neil Williams on Ventnor Esplanade.
(very pleased to see two of his images on the walls in this lovely house).
